Conservative with a twist

Hi everyone, for today I'd like to show you the beautiful and sophisticated Fifth Avenue from China Glaze. I really like the muted, mauvy kind of pink. But it all depends on the lighting how the color appears, it can change from a light, salmon-like pink to an almost purple-toned mauve.
As you can see, I gave the conservative look something modern by striping my ringfinger. The stripes are made with tape, topped with Gutsy, a gorgeous, unique polish from a brand named Teeez. At first, I thought Gutsy was 'just' a black jelly with silver flakies. But when I took a closer look, I also discoverd a pink and even subtle green shimmer. In direct sunlight it became clear that Gutsy is actually really dark brown colored and not black. I will show you more pictures of Gutsy in a future swatch, because it truly deserves its own post. I'm very excited today... Yay look at my doodle nails! Too cute... Love playing mobile games. Recently, I finished angry birds.. I'm into doodle jump right now, and it really challenges me.. My son loves it too...

my art...........your help......i am asking a favor :):):)

i am giving all of my art away. i am working extra hours. answering endless questions. giving tips and tricks that have cost me countless dollars testing and trying and working with and failing in order to come up with many solutions and i am sharing them all with you.

my hopes is that you learn, have fun and enhance your life with what i have given. my only request is...............please give me credit. say you learned it from me. say i told you. say i gave you the tip. that way, others who wish to learn can see who i am and learn too.

that doesnt mean you lose. as others see you improve and create your designs, your following will become loyal and stronger and better and the pride you will feel in your work will rub off on others around you and you will inspire others to work harder too. its just the way it works.

when you hold my name away from the public, it lowers my chances of retiring and teaching youtube. i am only one person. i cannot do this by myself. i need others to be my back up and say "hey, robin moses did that design! see all her designs at robinmoses.com"......


i compare it to christina aguilerra copying lady gagas designs before gaga got famous. her fans kept outing christina and calling her on her outfits....gaga deserved her OWN fans. she earned them. and christina eventually gave up and went on do be wildly successful being CHRISTINA.....everyone can be themselves, there are enough designs for all and i deserve my viewers. please allow my dream to come true and get my viewers so that i can retire filing nails and paint on canvas and show my art at art shows.

i have spent my whole life at a desk filing and i want to give that to the world....but i want the world to give me back a new path to enjoy and accomplish my goals. thank you guys so much.

and no...i am not mad at anyone. no i have no beef....what i am asking is for your help....as my base of designs build, there will be more people who just innocently take and use them. i have only 2 eyes....but you guys can help me..........please help me to pull my viewer base together so i can become as big as possible. i would love nothing more than to teach youtube full time and answer all questions and have time read every mail etc. but i cannot do that efficiently if i am also working 12 hours a day.....so, i really need your help ;)

Watermelon triangle

Well, hello there. I'm really excited about this mani I did last week. I wanted it to have its own name like a French or a skittle, so I came up with... the (taped) triangle mani. The colors I used are all from Essence: Everybody's talking about, Check me out and Lime up! layered over Essence's Stamp me! White. Together they really remind me of (cartoon) watermelons, so it's a fresh mani perfect for summer. The reason I used white as the base color is because the layering colors really pop that way. Also the layering polishes don't cover in one coat. But there's no time for a second coat, because for a neat result you have to remove the tape immediately after applying the layering color, otherwise the polish will stick to the tape and eventually come off with it. So we need the one coaters for this look!
What I love about the triangle mani is how I can combine multiple colors on each nail. Here I used fresh, vibrant clours but of course you can use any colors you prefer. You could go for a more serious, dramatic look by using darker colors mixed with metallics. The possibilities are endless!
So what are your thoughts on the triangle mani?

Striped First Mate

Hi folks! Today I'm wearing China Glaze's First Mate from the Anchors Away collection. First mate is a beautiful deep navy, very opaque and easy to apply, I used two coats.

To spice up my mani I added gold stripes on the ringfinger by placing thin strips of stationery tape on the nail, then I applied China Glaze's 2030 on top of that. The stripes really give the whole something festive and the technique is so simple! I love using Scotch tape because it's such an easy and fun way to create new, bold looks. My biggest inspiration in Scotch tape manis is Erika from Chloe's Nails, she's done a ton of gorgeous, mouthwatering tape manis, so make sure you check out her blog if you haven't. 
On the last picture I used different polishes to show you what effect the layering polish has on the base color. I must say that the holographic polish was really difficult to work with, the polish dries so fast that it gets stuck to the tape right away. When removing the tape the holo comes off with it. I always take the tape off as soon as I can to prevent the polish from sticking to the tape, but for holographic polishes I might consider an exception. Oh, wait! Perhaps I should do the holo first and then apply tape and First Mate on top of it. Well, there's something that might work...
